Skate boarding was originally created in the 1940 by some surfers that still wanted to shred even when the waves were flat. It wasn't called skateboarding until the 1960's when the popularity of skateboarding spawned a national magazine called Skateboarder Magazine. The first manufactured skateboards were ordered by a skate shop in los Angeles , CA. In the 1970 's Frank Nasworthy made a wheel out of polyurethane witch is the same material we use today. Also in the 70's the Z-Boys invented vert skating.
